Hawks' Robinson and Kedzierski Compete at ITA Atlantic Regional

Oct. 24, 2009

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Saint Joseph's freshman Casey Robinson and senior Jhennifer Kedzierski posted highly-competitive efforts in their matches at the Wilson/ITA Atlantic Regional.

Playing as a team in the doubles bracket of the competition, the Hawk duo faced the third-seeded team of Erin Vierra and Lindsey Hardenbergh from Virginia. Saint Joseph's team held its own though, fighting against the higher-seeded Cavaliers. The Hawks eventually fell, 8-3, but it was the toughest match Virginia faced at the ITA Regional as the Cavalier team advanced to the quarterfinals.

With little rest in between matches, Robinson faced Virginia Tech Holly Johnson in the singles bracket. The SJU rookie showed poise, but eventually fell to Johnson, 6-2, 6-2.

The ITA Atlantic Regional marks the end of the fall schedule for SJU. It also marks the first time in several seasons, the Hawks have competed at the regional event, this year with strong performances from both Kedzierski and Robinson.
