Oct. 21, 2005

Box Score

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Rider (7-2) rallied to claim four of the six singles matches to defeat Saint Joseph's (0-6), 4-3, in the completion of a match that began on October 6, but was suspended due to rain.

The Hawks earned the doubles point on October 6, as SJU picked up victories at #2 and #3 doubles before the rain came. Sophomore Gina DiGiacomo and junior Marisa Donelson picked up the victory at #2 winning 8-5. Juniors Erika Guers and Alisa Van Meter also won at #3, 8-3.

When the match resumed, the Hawks Nicole Morrison gathered her first victory of the year at first singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Rider was able to even the match by earning wins at second and third singles.

SJU reclaimed the lead with a 6-2, 6-2 victory by freshman Krysta Contino at fifth singles.

The outcome of the match, however, would not be determined until the Broncs were able to take two tough three setters to pick up the win. Van Meter dropperd the first set at sixth singles, but then battled back to claim the second set before falling, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Rider's Danielle Morse lifted Rider to the victory by edging DiGiacomo at fourth singles, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
