Women's Tennis Opens Play at Wilson/ITA Atlantic Regional

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Members of the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team began play at the Wilson/ITA Atlantic Regional Friday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

In singles play, freshman Kristina Eisenbrand opened play in the qualifier bracket posting a victory over Jessie Boda, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4. Facing Temple's Jordan Batey in the next match, Eisenbrand opened with a 7-6 victory in the first match, but eventually had to retire, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 1-5.

In doubles action, junior Devi Jadeja and sophomore Aurora Davis faced the Hokies' team of Tea Ivanovic and Emily Lauten. Despite a strong effort from the SJU duo, the Virginia Tech came out with an 8-5 win.

Jadeja continues play in the singles bracket at 4 p.m. on Saturday against Isel Martinez-Marcos of Virginia Tech.
