Saint Joseph's Women's Tennis Caps Fall Season With 6-1 Win Over Lafayette
Oct. 15, 2008 PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team capped the fall portion of its schedule with a 6-1 win over Lafayette (2-1) Wednesday afternoon at Finnesey Courts. With the victory, the Hawks improved to 3-7 overall under first year head coach Ian Crookenden. Saint Joseph's claimed the first point of the match, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point. The Hawks' duo of junior Jennifer Kedzierski and freshman Laura Matz posted an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Maggie Mullaney and senior Krysta Contino posted an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles to put SJU up 1-0. Switching to singles, Saint Joseph's was solid on its home court, winning the first through fifth singles flights. Kedzierski posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ansley Scudder at No. 1 singles, with Mullaney posting a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Allie Seranko. Matz was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles for SJU, helping the Hawks o the victory, with Borden and Contino winning 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4) and 7-5, 6-4, respectively. Singles
