Delaware State Nips SJU Women's Tennis, 4-3
Oct. 13, 2008 PHILADELPHIA - Looking for its third win of the season, the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team came up just short as Delaware State topped the Hawks, 4-3, at Finnesey Courts Monday afternoon. The Hornets earned the first point of the match, winning the doubles point. The Hawks' team of junior Jennifer Kedzierski and freshman Laura Matz earned an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, but SJU could not earn another victory as DSU jumped out to a 1-0 edge. In individual action, Kedzierski posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cristin Andrate at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Maggie Mullaney was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 2 singles. Saint Joseph's senior Krysta Contino earned the Hawks' third point with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles, but it wasn't enough. With the match tied at 3-3, Delaware State's Julieta Yung posted a marathon 6-4, 7-5 win over Saint Joseph's senior Tristin Reppert to earn the match for the Hornets. With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 2-7 on the year, while Delaware State improves to 7-1. The Hawks return to action this Wednesday when SJU hosts Lafayette at 2:30 p.m. Singles
