Saint Joseph's Women's Tennis Blanks La Salle, 7-0
Oct. 10, 2008 PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team posted its best performance of the young season, losing just eight total points in a 7-0 win over city-rival La Salle Friday afternoon. The Hawks earned the first point of the match as SJU swept all three doubles matches for the point. Saint Joseph's junior Jennifer Kedzierski and freshman Laura Matz posted an 8-0 win at No. 1 singles over Lauren Perry and Christina Gomez, while senior Krysta Contino and sophomore Maggie Mullaney earned the sexond point for SJU with an 8-1 win over Pearl Wilkins and Tonya Rice at No. 2 doubles. Saint Joseph's senior Tristin Reppert and sophomore Katy Borden made it a clean sweep in doubles with an 8-4 victory over Courtney Babo and Taylor Silverio. Switching to singles play, the Hawks were dominant, dropping only three games en route to six points. At No. 1 singles, Kedzierski posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Babo, while Mullaney matched her teammate with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Perry at No. 2 singles. Earning a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles was Matz, while Borden posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Gomez at No. 4 singles. Contino and Reppert rounded out the victories with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. With the win, the Hawks move to 2-6, while the Explorers fall to 0-8. Saint Joseph's returns to action this Monday when it hosts Delaware State at 2 p.m. Singles
