Saint Joseph's Women's Tennis Falls at Manhattan, 5-2

Bronx, N.Y. - Saint Joseph's women's tennis team got wins from sophomore Maggie Mullaney and senior Krysta Contino Sunday versus Manhattan, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks fell to the Jaspers, 5-2, at the Bronx International Junior Tennis Center. Saint Joseph's (1-5) came out fighting with an 8-0 win behind the No.1 doubles team of from junior Jennifer Kedzierski and freshman Laura Matz. Unfortunately for the Hawks, Manhattan squeezed out 8-6 and 9-7 wins at No.2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively, to earn the first point of the match. Switching to singles competition, Mullaney posted the Hawks' first point of the match with a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win over Morgan MacTaggart at No. 2 singles. Contino added SJU's second point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Christine Krasinski at No. 5 singles, but Manhattan (4-2) claimed the other four singles flights for the victory. The Hawks return to action this Tuesday at Towson at 3 p.m. Singles
