PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team snapped its two-game losing streak as the Hawks topped Rider, 6-1, Thursday afternoon at Finnesey Courts.

Saint Joseph's earned the first point of the match as it claimed two of the three doubles points. The Hawks' duo of junior Stephania Velazquez and freshman Jen Kedzierski earned an 8-5 win over Caitlin and Devin Crawbuck at No. 1 doubles, while SJU won the point as Rider forfeited the point at No. 3 doubles because it didn't have enough players.

Individually, Saint Joseph's took five of six matches. Kedzierski earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles over Devin Crawbuck, while Erika Guers earned a 6-0, 6-1 win versus Danielle Morse at No. 3 singles. Saint Joseph's junior Gina DiGiacomo downed Krissy Paich 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, while sophomore Krysta Contino posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kelly Anne Chouinard at No. 5 singles. The Hawks picked up the sixth point of the match as Rider had to forfeit No. 6 singles.

With the win, the Hawks improved to 8-4 on the season, while Rider fell to 2-4 with the loss.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Sunday, October 8, at Drexel at 3 p.m.
