Women's Netters Edged by the Mount, 4-3

EMMITSBURG, MD - Thrilling three set victories at fourth, fifth and sixth singles were highlights for Saint Joseph's (0-5), but the team was unable to post the team's first win of the season, as Mt. St. Mary's (3-3) notched a 4-3 victory. SJU also picked up a win at #3 doubles.

The Mount took the early lead after winning the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Juniors Erika Guers and Alisa Van Meter won 8-5 at #3 for the Hawks, but MSM posted an 8-6 victory at #1 and an 8-5 win at #2.

In singles, Mt. St. Mary's won at the first three singles slots to secure the win. SJU then took the final three matches for the final margin. Sophomore Gina DiGiacomo was a 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 victor at #3, freshman Krysta Contino recorded her second collegiate win at #5, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 and Van Meter rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 win.
