SJU Falls at Lafayette

EASTON, PA - Saint Joseph's was unable to take a set, falling 7-0, despite hanging tough with Lafayette in women's tennis action on the Sullivan Courts. SJU's best chance to pick up a win came at third doubles, where juniors Erika Guers and Alisa Van Meter were edged 8-6.

The Leopards swept all six singles matches. Senior Nicole Morrison fell at #1 (6-1, 6-1), Guers was topped at #2 (6-2, 6-0), senior Jess Swanderski was bested at #3 (6-0, 6-3), sophomore Gina DiGiacomo dropped a decision at #4 (6-1, 6-4), freshman Krysta Contino was defeated at #5 (6-1, 6-4) and Van Meter was downed at #6 (6-3, 6-1).

Lafayette also took the doubles point with a sweep. In addition to the tight match by Guers and Van Meter, Morrison and DiGiacomo lost at #1 (8-1) and junior Marisa Donelson and Contino were blanked 8-0 at #2.

SJU travels to Mt. St. Mary's on Tuesday afternoon.
