Saint Joseph's Tennis Falls at Mount St. Mary's, 5-2

EMMITSBURG, MD - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team got single wins from senior Krysta Contino and freshman Laura Matz, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks fell at Mount St. Mary's, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks scored an early 8-3 win behind Contino and sophomore Maggie Mullaney at No. 2 doubles, but SJU couldn't muster another victory as Mount St. Mary's picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Unfortunately for Saint Joseph's, Switching to singles play, Contino earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Alissa Thayer at the No. 6 slot to give SJU its first point of the match. Playing at No. 4 singles, Matz was a straight set winner over Emily Grugan, 6-1, 6-1. Unfortunately for the Hawks, they couldn't earn the other two points needed for the victory. With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 1-3 on the year, while Mount St. Mary's improves to 2-1. The Hawks return to action this Friday when the Hawks host Drexel at 2:30 p.m. Singles
