Women's Tennis Team Claims Second Place at Towson Classic

TOWSON, MD - Behind a 3-2 victory over host Towson, the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team claimed second place at the Towson Classic Sunday afternoon. The Hawks earned three individual points as they finished the weekend with a 3-1 record.

Playing at No. 1 singles, Saint Joseph's junior Stephania Velazquez earned the first point of the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Towson's Jessica Woolfolk. At No. 2 singles, freshman Jennifer Kedzierski downed Kelly Parsons in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, while junior Gina DiGiacomo clinched the match for SJU with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Alexis Stanley at No. 4 singles.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Wednesday, September 13 as it hosts Villanova at 2:30 p.m.
