Women's Tennis Opens Season With Matches at Towson Tiger Classic
TOWSON, Md. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team opened the 2012-13 season with a pair of matches at the Towson Tiger Classic Friday afternoon. The Hawks faced Mount St. Mary's and Atlantic 10 rival George Washington in the two contests.
With results counting towards only players records not team results, Saint Joseph's began competition with victories at all four singles spots and a win at doubles over Mount St. Mary's.
Senior Casey Robinson teamed with freshman Kristina Eisenbrand for a 6-2, 6-2 victory in doubles competition to start the match. Junior Devi Jadeja posted a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Samantha Pinchott, while sophomore Aurora Davis battled to a 7-5 win in the first set against Kelly Enroy and cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set.
In the nightcap against the Colonials, Robinson picked up her first singles win on the year, earning a decisive 6-2, 6-3 win over Lana Robins. Davis won her second match of the day, downing Stephanie Wei 6-2, 6-3, but George Washington would claim wins at the other two singles matches and the doubles contest to close out the day.
