Duquesne Downs Women's Tennis Team 4-0 In Opening Round of Atlantic 10 Championship

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The ninth seeded Saint Joseph's women's tennis team fell eighth seed Duquesne 4-0 in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championships Friday morning.

The Dukes earned the first point of the match, winning at first and third doubles. Juniors Nicole Morrison and Jess Swanderski fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Marisa Donelson and freshman Gina DiGiacomo fell 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Morrison fell in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 1 position. Senior Michelle Savage, playing at No. 2 singles, dropped her macth 6-4, 6-2. Duquesne closed out the match as sophomore Erika Guers fell 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4.

Despite the loss, the Hawks will return to action tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. versus the 12th seeded La Salle Explorers.
