April 5, 2009

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - Playing without three starters Sunday, the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to Fordham, 5-2, at Finnesey Courts.

The Hawks fell behind 1-0 after fdropping all three doubles matches to spot the Rams the opening point. But Saint Joseph's rallied, getting two points in singles play from sophomore Maggie Mullaney and freshman Sally Kalani Stainier. Mullaney was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 2 singles, while Strainier was a 6-4, 7-5 victor at the third flight.

Unfortunately Fordham was too much for a Saint Joseph's team that had several Hawks playing at different flights, as the Rams captured the other four points for the match victory.
