March 31, 2010 PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team fell at city-rival Drexel Wednesday afternoon, 6-1. Saint Joseph's sophomore Kate Dowd posted a victory at No. 6 singles to earn the Hawks' point. The Dragons opened the match with wins at all three doubles events to jump out to a 1-0 edge. In singles action, Dowd was a 6-1, 6-4 victor over Drexel's Melissa Bohm to earn her third-straight singles win. Unfortunately for SJU, the Dragons took advantage of an injury-plagued Hawk lineup, earning five singles wins to finish with the 6-1 decision. Saint Joseph's (4-13) hosts Temple on Thursday at the SJU Tennis Complex. The match is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
