Women's Tennis Blanks South Dakota, 7-0
March 9, 2009 ORLANDO, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team topped South Dakota, 7-0, Monday afternoon as the Hawks opened play during their spring break trip to Florida. The victory lifted Saint Joseph's to 4-8 on the season. Saint Joseph's tallied the first point of the match, earning wins at the first and second doubles flights. Saint Joseph's junior Jennifer Kedzierski and freshman Laura Matz earned a 9-8 set victory at the No. 1 flight, while senior Krysta Contino and sophomore Maggie Mullaney earned an 8-0 win at No. 2 singles. In singles play, the Hawks swept all six points, winning all but one match in just two sets. Kedzierski was a 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 win over Shadi Soleymani at No. 1 singles, while Mullaney posted a 7-5 victory over Ashley Waltman at No. 2 singles. Matz was a 6-0-61 win at No. 3 singles, while newcomer Sally Kalani Stainier was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 4 singles. Contino and sophomore Katy Borden earned the sweep for SJU with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. The Hawks return to action Wednesday with matches versus Seton Hall and Radford in Orlando, Florida. Singles
