Women's Tennis Drops Spring Opener to Drexel, 7-0
March 1, 2009 FORT WASHINGTON, PA - Playing against a stong Drexel squad, the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped its opening match of the Spring, 7-0, to the Dragons late Saturday at the Upper Dublin Sports Complex. Opening in doubles play, the Hawks dropped all three competitive matches, allowing Drexel to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Switching to singles play, Saint Joseph's got solid performances from senior Krysta Contino and freshman Laura Matz, as both came close to earning a set. But again, Drexel was able to hold on for wins in all six matches to earn the 7-0 victory as the Hawks fell to 3-8 on the season. Saint Joseph's returns to action March 9 versus South Dakota in the opening match of the Hawks' spring break competition in Orlando, Florida. Singles Doubles
