Women's Tennis Falls at Penn in Spring Opener

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's junior Maggie Mullaney and sophomore Sally Kalani Stainier combined to earn a victory at No. 3 doubles, but that would be the only victory for the Hawks' women's tennis team as it fell at Penn, 7-0, in its opening match of the spring.

The Hawks duo of Mullaney and Stainier posted an 8-6 victory over the Quakers' Daniela DePaoli and Emma Whitfield, but Penn earned the doubles' point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Penn earned wins at all six flights as the Quakers dropped SJU's record to 2-4 on the year.

The Hawks return to action this Friday, February 5 versus Xavier. The match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the Upper Dublin Sports Center.
