CUNIC NAMED ATLANTIC 10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

PHILADELPHIA (4/12/04) – Junior Alicia Cunic has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. The catcher batted .421 (8-for-19) in six games this week and drove in seven runs to help SJU compile a 3-3 record, including an Atlantic 10 sweep of St. Bonaventure. Five of Cunic's eight hits went for extra bases as her three doubles and two homeruns combined for a .895 slugging percentage. Her best game came at St. Bonaventure, in which she went 3-for-4 with a double, homerun and five RBI. After missing a month of play due to a concussion suffered in Florida, Cunic has batted safely in five straight games. Cunic leads the team in batting (.342) and homeruns (four). Saint Joseph's is 11-17 overall and 4-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
