FOUR HAWKS NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT SOFTBALL TEAMS

PHILADELPHIA (05/08/03) - For the second straight year three Saint Joseph's University softball players were named to the Verizon Academic All-District II first team while a fourth Hawk was honored on the second team. Returning Verizon Third Team Academic All-American senior Brandie Adams was joined by sophomores Cara Deldeo and Megan Richardson on the first team. Senior Gale Treskot earned second team honors for the second time in her career. Adams, who has compiled an 8-2 record on the mound for SJU with a 2.47 ERA, boasts a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as an elementary education major. The team's startingshortop, Deldeo, the Hawks' leading hitter with a .341 batting average, has the team's highest grade point average, 3.97, as an interdisciplinary health services major. Also an interdisciplinary health services major, Richardson, a two-year starter in centerfield, owns a 3.77 cumulative grade point average while batting .296. Treskot, a finance major with a 3.41 grade point average, is batting .269 as the team's starting left fielder. Adams, Deldeo and Richardson will all be placed on the national ballot. The Verizon Academic All-America Teams will be announced in two weeks.
