Softball Drops Pair to Princeton in Home Finale

EAST NORRITON, PA - The Saint Joseph's softball team dropped a pair in the final home games of the 2006 season to Princeton Sunday. The Hawks fell 6-0 in the opener and 5-1 in the nightcap to the NCAA-bound Tigers at East Norriton Field. In game one, Princeton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third and added three more in the fourth to open up a 5-0 edge. The Tigers added another run in the fifth as the Hawks managed only a pair of singles off Princeton's Erin Snyder. In game two, sophomore pitcher Lauren Cognigni smacked a RBI double and classmate Carly Kinkler collected a pair of hits, but it wasn't enough as Princeton took advantage of the Hawks fielding miscues to score five runs. With the loss, the Hawks move to 13-36-1 on the season, while Princeton improves to 31-16 Saint Joseph's caps its season next Sunday, May 7, at Charlotte.
