The Hawks would rally in the top of the third, scoring three times to cut the deficit to 5-4. Freshman Dani Gonzales earned a one-out single and advanced to second on a Rosenwinkel single. Classmate Sarah Falk followed with a RBI single, and advanced to second, while Rosenwinkel moved to third on a throw to the plate. Sophomore outfielder Carly Kinkler followed with a two-RBI double to cut the Peahens lead to one.

Saint Joseph's would continue to pour it on in the top of the fourth, plating three more runs to take a 7-5 lead. A string of singles by Gonzales, Falk and Kinkler accounted for SJU's three RBIs.

Sophomore Lauren Cognigni would come in to close out the contest over the final three innings as she allowed only one hit, while striking out four to earn the save. Hughes picked up the victory after a tough first inning.

The Saint Peter's right fielder advanced to third on an error by Rosenwinkel and came around to score on a double steal as teammate Meg Papiernack, who drew a walk, stole second.

Saint Peter's added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-0 lead as Christie Crowell drove in the insurance run.

The Hawks would tally only one hit over the remaining two innings as freshman Dani Gonzales was the hard-luck loser as she allowed both runs on four hits, while striking out six.
