Entering her seventh season as head coach of the Saint Joseph's softball program, Terri Adams has quickly returned the Hawks to prominence in the Atlantic 10, the region and the nation. Over her first six years, Saint Joseph's has made five A-10 Tournament appearances and two A-10 title game appearances, with 18 Hawks earning All-conference honors and five garnering All-Region accolades.

Posting the most wins since 2002, the Hawks finished 2011 with a 31-16 record and made a dramatic run to the title game of the Atlantic 10 Championship. Saint Joseph's success came early on as it won the Carolina Classic title and finished the regular season third in the conference. On top of the team success, Adams saw several individual records fall as sophomore Dana Parks earned All-Region First Team honors after setting a single-season record for hits (67) and stolen bases (20). Added to that, junior Erin Gallagher became the first SJU pitcher to post back-to-back 20-win seasons and garnered All-Region Second Team accolades.

Adams coached the Hawks to 29-18 mark in 2010 and their third-straight Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance. Under Adams' tutelage, Gallagher posted one of the most prolific season in SJU history, setting the program' single-season record for wins and strikeouts, while the Hawks' pitching staff ranked 24th nationally in ERA (2.02). On the offensive side, Bernadette Moran set career-highs in batting average, hits and runs as she became the second Hawk under Adams managing to earn All-Region accolades, while senior Brooke Darreff became just the fourth Saint Joseph's player to earn A-10 All-Conference honors three times.

Having one of the most memorable seasons on Hawk Hill in 2009, Adams guided Saint Joseph's an unforgettable run to the Atlantic 10 Championship game. Making their second-straight conference postseason appearance under Adams, the Hawks won four consecutive must-win games to advance to the program's second conference title game.

Finishing with a 27-20 record, SJU's first winning season since 2003, Adams oversaw a team that improved its overall batting average, runs scored, and defense over the previous year. Individually, four Hawks were named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team, while four earned All-Conference honors, including A-10 Rookie of the Year, Monica Aguilar.

In 2008, the Hawks made a five-win improvement in the A-10 and earned the program's 12th appearance in the conference tournament and first since the 2005 season. Adams helped set the tone early that year as she challenged her team in the offseason. It paid off as Saint Joseph's took home the 19th Annual Carole Weil Fall Classic. Adams pushed the Hawks to carry over the success into the spring, and SJU responded, finishing fifth in the A-10 with an 11-9 mark, including wins over all but one conference opponent.

Working directly with the pitching staff, Adams turned the Hawks' bullpen into one of the most dominant pitching staffs in the conference, as the team finished second in ERA (2.04) and walked the fewest batters among any staff. Adams honed Dani Gonzales into the team ace, as Gonzales collected a career-best 12 wins, 144 strikeouts, a 1.64 ERA and earned A-10 Second Team All-Conference honors.

Adams' coaching ability shined elsewhere in 2008, as it marked the fourth time in program history that three SJU student-athletes earned All-Conference honors, as Brooke Darreff and Erika Rosenwinkel were named First Team All-Conference. Darreff would also go on to earn A-10 Player of the Year and All-Region honors and finish in the top-five nationally in batting average, while Rosenwinkel led the nation in doubles.

Named the seventh head coach in Hawks' softball history in the fall of 2006, Adams guided a youthful squad that started eight underclassmen to a 13-25 mark in 2007. After starting the season slowly - going 2-11 - Adams helped transform Saint Joseph's into a late-season contender as SJU finished the year winning 11 of its last 25 games, including a 6-4 mark at home. As a team, Saint Joseph's ranked among the Atlantic 10 leaders in triples, fewest runs allowed and opponent batting average, with the pitching staff finishing atop the A-10 with the fewest walks allowed.

A familiar face around the Atlantic 10, Adams came to Saint Joseph's in 2007 after spending the previous season at Fordham. In her lone season as an assistant coach with the Rams, Adams helped them to a 37-23 overall record, a 13-5 finish in the Atlantic 10 and a berth in the conference tournament. She helped Fordham finish fourth in the A-10 in earned run average (3.05) and second in strikeouts (322). Adams, who served as a volunteer assistant in 2006, was named full-time assistant coach in June.

Prior to joining the Rams, Adams spent nine months helping establish the expansion Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch League. Serving as assistant coach and director of player personnel, Adams assisted in player development, contract negotiations and leading camp instructions.

A native of Allentown, Pa., Adams began her Division I coaching career as an assistant coach at city rival Temple University from 1998 to 2005. Working with the Owls, she helped them to a 175-208 overall record and a 76-54 mark in the A-10 over eight seasons. From 2000-04, Temple advanced to five straight Atlantic 10 Tournaments, winning the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championship and earning the program's first ever berth in the NCAA Tournament. That same season, Adams coached pitcher Kim Watkins to A-10 Pitcher of the Year, A-10 First Team and All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors.

A 1989 graduate of Kutztown University, Adams returned to her alma mater for a three-year stint as an assistant coach. From 1995-97, Adams saw the Golden Bears compile a 96-54 overall record, and a 52-20 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference mark.

Adams began her coaching career as head coach at Salisbury High School (1992-94), before taking an assistant's position at Allentown College (1994-95). She also spent nine years coaching the Lehigh Valley Renegades, helping them collect six Pennsylvania ASA State Championships and eight berths in the ASA National Tournament. A letterwinner in softball, basketball and field hockey at William Allen High School, Adams went on to play softball at Clarion University before transferring to Kutztown. A dual major in special and elementary education, Adams worked at KidsPeace Therapeutic Center for troubled adolescents for five years following graduation.
