Hawks Earn Fifth Seed in Atlantic 10 Championship

Oct. 30, 2005

PHILADELPHIA - For the third consecutive season, the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team (8-8-3, 4-3-2 Atlantic 10) has earned a berth into the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Hawks secured the fifth seed in the sis-team postseason.

The Hawks begin postseason play versus the fourth-seeded Dayton Flyers at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 3 in Dayton. The Flyers, who are hosting this year's A-10 Championship, will try to avenge a 1-0 loss in the A-10 opener to the Hawks at Baujan Field.

Saint Joseph's finished the regular season this afternoon with a 3-1 victory at St. Bonaventure to finish with a 4-3-2 record. The Hawks posted a .556 winning percentage to finish in a four-way tie for the final two playoff positions with Duquesne, Massachusetts and Xavier. However, due to tie-breaker formula, Saint Joseph's earned the higher of the two seeds, while Duquesne claimed the final spot and will face third-seeded Charlotte at 5:30 Thursday.

Top-seeded Saint Louis and second-seeded Rhode Island each earned a bye into the semifinals.
