WOMEN'S SOCCER NORWEGIAN TOUR: DAY 7
ASKER, NORWAY (08/21/03) -- Seven days down, three to go for the SJU women's soccer team 2003 Norwegian excursion.
----
It's always pleasant to wake up post sun-rise greeted by the sweet smell of mini hot dogs and sweet sardines at breakfast. Smell it we did, eat it we didn't. We stuck to the crepes.
Being the discrete Americans we are traveling in a pack of 30, we boarded the 10:00 a.m. train to Oslo for a day of shopping. The whole kroner value system throws us off so we just figure out that the safest bet is to follow the "Salg" signs. A few hours and a couple of kroners later, we take the train back to Asker for our game that was changed two hours earlier.
With the quick change in location, the coaches sprung into action and rented a "car" that squised 15. The others were comfortably transported in the other coach's car. A ten minute ride turned into a 30 minute unexpected tour of Norwegian mountains and farms. We arrived 10 minutes before game time - better late than never.
It was a competitive match until a random coach stopped on the field towards the end of our game and gave us the boot. We then packed up the clown car and headed for Oslo to see the craziest match - Kilts versus Vikings.
We've never seen a stadium filled with so many guys in skirts before. The final score in this international fubol match - nil to nil! So with seve days down, three to go, we've come across many different surprises.
Today men in skirts, tomorrow who knows!
