KATIE WATSON NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM

PHILADELPHIA (11/07/02) – Saint Joseph's senior Katie Watson (Lansdale, Pa. / Lansdale Catholic) was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference second team, announced Thursday. The midfielder was the only Hawk to earn a nod on the all-conference team. Watson led SJU in goals (four), assists (three) and points (11) in 2002. She scored both Hawk goals in a road trip to Duquesne and St. Bonaventure and ended her career by scoring the only goal in a 2-1 loss to Dayton on senior day. One of the most prolific scorers in the history of Hawk women's soccer, Watson ranks third on the all-time list in career goals (14) and points (33) and eighth on the all-time assist list (five.) Her seven goals in the 2000 season were the fourth most in the history of the program in a single season. She is the first Hawk offensive player to earn A-10 honors since current assistant coach Ellen Stenrud was named to the second team in 1999. Defender Laurie Muller earned second team honors last season.
