AMHERST, MASS. (10/27/02) -- Massachusetts kept its playoff hopes alive on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over visiting Saint Jospeh's. For the Hawks, it was their ninth straight game without a win, dating back to a 2-1 home win over Temple on Sept. 27. UMass's (6-9, 5-4 A-10) Rayney Meisel scored in the 9th minute to start the scoring, and added another in the 61st minute. Erin Lilly tallied on another goal in the 81st minute to complete the scoring. SJU (4-10-1, 1-7-1) goalkeeper Christy Ganc made eight stops in the defeat. The Hawks were outshot 24-13 in the game and faced a 8-3 deficit in corner kicks. Saint Joseph's returns home to Finnesey Field on Friday night to host Xavier in the final weekend of the season.
