SJU, DUQUESNE BATTLE TO 1-1 DRAW

PITTSBURGH, PA (10/11/02) - Saint Joseph's snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday night with a 1-1 double overtime draw at Duquesne. It was their second straight double overtime match, and their third overtime contest in their last four games. The Hawks (4-5-1, 1-2-1) continued to get on the board first, as a freshman Michelle Carmosky pass found the boot of senior Kate Watson. Watson tickled the twine in the 43rd minute giving SJU a 1-0 advantage before halftime. Their lead was brief, as the Dukes came back eight minutes later to tie the score. Despite playing nearly 60 more minutes of action, the score remained deadlocked. Senior Christy Ganc made a season-high ten saves in the contest. SJU was outshot 20-10 on the day and the Dukes held a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks. The Crimson and Gray return to the pitch on Sunday against A-10 foe St. Bonaventure. Game time is 1 pm.
