Saint Joseph's Women's Soccer Tops Temple, 1-0

AMBLER, Pa. - Thanks in part to a goal by senior Laura Adams and the fourth shutout of the season by freshman goalkeeper Cara Critchlow the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team topped city-rival, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in an Atlantic 10 conference match up. It took until the 78th minute, but Saint Joseph's took advantage of its best scoring opportunity. Taking a pass from freshman Maggie Lupinski (Haddonfield, N.J./Lenape), Adams gathered the ball and beat Temple's goalkeeper Kara Williams to put SJU up 1-0 at the 77:54 mark. Up by one, Critchlow and the Hawks' defense made the goal stand, as Critchlow finished the game with four saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Both team played to a stalemate in the first half, with the Hawks (7-3-1/2-0-1 A-10) holding a 5-2 edge in shots. For the game, Saint Joseph's out shot the Owls 13-7, with Temple (2-6-3, 0-1-2 A-10) finishing with a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
