NEWARK, Del. - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team snapped its losing streak on Friday as the Hawks downed Delaware, 2-1, on a late goal by junior Mo Hawkins. Hawkins' tally in the 83rd minute, coupled with freshman Shannon Westhead's goal, helped SJU improve to 4-3-1 on the season.

Following a scoreless first half, Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute as Westhead tallied her first collegiate goal. A shot by Hawkins was blocked by a Delaware defender, only to bounce to Westhead, whom chipped a shot into an open left side of the goal at 57:39.

The Blue Hens tied the score on a goal by Dianna Marinaro off a direct kick at 74:57.

With time running down, Hawkins struck the the decisive goal at 82:38 as she broke through the Delaware defense and drilled a shot into the top right side of the goal into the back of the net.

For the game, Delaware outshot the Hawks 28-10, with SJU senior Christine Neal making a game- and season-high 15 saves.

The Hawks return to action Sunday at Loyola (Md.).
