Women's Rowing to Race at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday
Oct. 23, 2009
PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team will compete at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday, October 24. It will be their final "head race" of 2009, meaning that all races after this weekend will be 2,000 meters, rather than 4,000 meters. For information on the Head of the Schuylkill, go to www.hosr.org. The Hawks have put together solid results in the exhibition races thus far, placing no lower than fourth place across the board in events that have more than 20 entrants. "We have mixed the boats again this week, trying different combinations and pairings of oarswomen," said coach Gerry Quinlan. "We are excited to battle it out again on the Schuylkill". "We have gathered a lot of good information about ourselves as individuals and as a team, which will help us to hone our plan for winter training and another strong Spring." Last year saw the Hawks complete their best regular season in their long history with wins at the Atlantic 10 Championships, San Diego Crew Classic and Jesuit Invitational.
