CAMDEN, NJ - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team matched its best-ever finish with a third place effort at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championships on the Cooper River. Three different Hawk boats claimed medals.
The team's best finish was turned in by the Varsity 4 which took a silver medal after being edged out by UMass in the Grand Final. Two other Hawk crews placed third, including the Second Varsity 8, which was edged out in a hotly contested final, and the Varsity Quad.
The University of Massachusetts won its ninth title in as many years. The Minutewomen won three of eight races in posting 42 total points. Rhode Island placed second with 33 points. George Washington finished fourth with 23 points. The Colonials were followed by Dayton (20 points), Fordham (14 points), Temple (13 points), and Duquesne and La Salle (nine points).
