Assistant Coaches

Patti Kryst
ASSISTANT COACH In her fourth year as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph’s is Patti Kryst. Kryst coordinates the Hawks’ highly successful freshman and novice crews. A four-year member of the SJU rowing team as an undergraduate, she captained the women’s team during the 1997-98 season. Kryst earned her Master’s degree in education from SJU in 1999. She is currently teaching at St. Anastasia’s School in Newtown Square, Pa. Recently engaged, she currently resides in Broomall, Pa.

Linda Gallagher
ASSISTANT COACH In her third year on the Hawk staff is Linda Gallagher. A 1999 graduate of Loyola (Md.) College in Baltimore, she was a four-year standout for the Greyhounds. She joined the SJU staff as an assistant coach for the freshman team in 2000-01. The Broomall, Pa., native presently works for the Philadelphia Red Cross.

Ann-Marie Podgorski
GRADUATE ASSISTANT COACH New to the Hawk staff in 2002-03 is Ann-Marie Podgorski. A 1995 graduate of the University of Delaware, Podgorski rowed in the Hens’ Varsity 8 boat that won a silver medal at the 1995 Dad Vail and captured gold at the Mid-Atlantic Championships. Still an active rower, she is presently racing with the pre-elite racing squad at Vesper Boat Club. She served as an assistant girl’s rowing coach at Radnor High School in 2002. The Phillipsburg, N.J. native received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from UD in 1995 and has worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at the University of Maryland-Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Podgorski is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration at SJU.

Ann Crawford
GRADUATE ASSISTANT COACH Ann Crawford is in her first season as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph’s. The 2000 graduate of the University of North Carolina holds a degree in exercise science and was a four-year rower for the Tar Heels. After graduation, she served as the novice women’s coach at the University of Rhode Island in 2000-01. In the summer of 2001, Crawford was invited to participate in U.S. Rowing’s lightweight women’s pre-elite sculling camp. She then moved to Augusta, Ga. to train under former national team sculling coach Igor Grinco.
