PHILADELPHIA, PA (3/29/02) - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team had its way with Lafayette on the Schuylkill River on Friday, winning all three races in the head-to-head meet.. The Hawks varsity eight of Amy Platt (cox), Shannon Deegan, Faith Seher, Karen Rensman, Julie Conroy, Tara Smith, Martha Limbach, Jen Steel and Lauren Sumser won a three-crew race, besting SJU's junior varsity boat by 12 seconds and Lafayette by 31 seconds. The Hawks' junior varsity eight was made up of Ashley Milspaw (cox), Laurie Sparano, Jenn Wilson, Mary Jameson, Rebecca Celotto, Meg Nechanicky, Stef Smith, Suzanne Phillips and Sara Banfer. The freshmen eight consisting of coxswain Tori Zunino, Maureen Demer, Brigid Morrisson, Caterina Silvestrini, Lauren Gallagher, Claire Lawrence, Alison Vaughan, Kate Harron, and Meg Kolb easily out-rowed Lafayette, finishing the race in 7:48.7 to the Leopards' 8:12.5 time. SJU's women's novice four won its second race of the season to complete the clean sweep. SJU travels to Ohio this coming weekend, racing Saturday at the Cincinnati Invitational and Sunday against Dayton.
