HAWKS COMPETE AT HEAD OF CHARLES REGATTA

BOSTON, MA (10/21/01) - The Saint Joseph's University women's rowing teams competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta this past Sunday (Oct. 21). The Hawk crews rowed in the premier event, the Championship 8, against the United States, German, French and Dutch National teams as well as the best collegiate teams in the country. The Hawk women's eight, consisting of senior Lauren Sumser, juniors Amy Platt, Jen Steel and Laurie Sparano, and sophomores Mary Jameson, Megan Nechanicky, Martha Limbach, Tara Smith, and Shannon Deegan finished 52nd with a time of 19:04. The race was a great experience for the very young Saint Joseph's crews. The SJU men's and women's teams next compete this weekend at the Head of the Schuylkill (Oct. 27) and Atlantic 10 Head Race (Oct. 28) to finish off the fall season.
