PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's team arrived in England earlier this week for the Henley Royal Regatta on the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England, June 18-20. It marks Saint Joseph's second trip to Henley and first since 2006. The Hawks earned the invitation by way of their second-place finish in the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. Aberdeen Asset Management Inc. is the title sponsor of the Regatta and is a supporter of Saint Joseph's athletics and the Hawks' trip to England. SJU's Varsity 8 is comprised of: seniors Christina DiSanto (Sewell, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep), Colleen Greway (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) and Lauren Rozsits (Landenberg, Pa./Kennett); junior Danielle Brady (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City), Clare Burns (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Visitation Prep), Brianne Kammerman (Ventnor City, N.J./Gwynedd Mercy Academy), Katie Herdmann (Libertyville, Ill./Carmel); and sophomore Bridget Dempsey (Forest Park, Ill./St. Ignatius Prep). Also making the trip are seniors Andi Hartfield (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Tina Regan (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East). The Hawks will spend the first week in Wallingford, training and rowing out of Oxford University's Fleming Boathouse. On Saturday, June 11, SJU will race at the Reading Regatta in an 8+, 4+ and 2x. Saint Joseph's will then move to Henley and train at the Leander Boathouse. Saint Joseph's last competed at Henley in 2006 after winning the Dad Vail Regatta and reached the quarterfinals there. |
