PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team is beginning its final preparations for its trip to the prestigious Henley Regatta. The Hawks leave on June 8, but will have a fundraising "Sendoff Party" on Friday, June 4 at the Gillin Boathouse.

The Sendoff Party begins at 6:30 p.m. with a $25 donation payable at the door. Please rsvp to rowing@sju.edu.

The Hawks leave for the United Kingdom on June 8 and will stay in Oxford for a week and train from Oxford University's Fleming Boathouse in preparation for their regattas.

The Women will compete at the Reading Amateur Regatta on Saturday June 13 in the 8+, 4+ and 2x. The SJU Squad will then move base to Henley-on-Thames to train from the Leander Boat Club in preparation for the Henley Women's Regatta. The Hawks will compete in the Elite 8+ at the Henley.

This is the SJU Women's Rowing team's second trip to the Henley. The Hawks won the Dad Vail in 2006 and earned the trip to the Henley Women's Regatta the same year.

The Hawks are appreciative of the support from the University, the Dad Vail Regatta and Aberdeen Asset Management for the opportunity.
