SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing Varsity Eight will compete in the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic this weekend on the Mission Bay.

The Hawks head into their Varsity 8 race - the Women's Collegiate Varsity Cal Cup C- as the number-one seed. SJU's competition in that race will be Purdue, Saint Mary's, Temple, Drexel and Sonoma.

The heat is at 8:20 a.m. Pacific time and the final will take place at 10:20 a.m. Pacific time. That final can be viewed online in real time from the Crew Classic's website, www.crewclassic.org, by clicking here.

Highlights of the 2009 San Diego Crew Classic will be broadcast on ESPNU on May 7 at 4 p.m. Pacific time.
