PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team will cap off their Spring Break Racing Camp with their first race of the season on Saturday, March 13. The Hawks will face regional competitors Delaware, Drexel and La Salle in the early season showdown on the Schuylkill River.

The Hawks have an experienced squad in 2010, which includes seven athletes from the 2009 Atlantic 10 champion Varsity 8.

"We have worked very hard this week, taking advantage of the beautiful weather here in Philly. By the time the week is over we will have logged more than 220 miles on the Schuylkill. We have spent time in small boats, practiced race strategy and tactics, but most importantly we have really grown as a team," said 11th-year head coach Gerry Quinlan. "We are excited to see what this team can do this season."

Racing begins at 9:30 a.m. with the Varsity Eights and finishes at 11:15 a.m.
