Saint Joseph's Freshmen Rowers Claim Victories at Frostbite Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team capped its fall season with a successful showing at the Frostbite Regatta this past weekend. Three of the four SJU freshmen boats claimed gold for the Hawks.

The Hawks' freshmen 4 led off the day with the team's first gold medal, besting the field by more than 21 seconds. Saint Joseph's four consisted of coxswain Andi Hartfield, Lauren Rozsits, Christina DiSanto, Kim Shaffer and Kelly Sherrer.

Saint Joseph's three freshman 8s had successful days as well. The freshman "A" and "B" boats both won their hard fought races over the 2000m course. The freshman 8 "C"boat rowed a great race as well finishing a strong second to Philadelphia University.

"This was a great way to finish out the 2006 Season," said Saint Joseph's head coach Gerry Quinlan. "The freshman will now join the varsity squad in our winter training to gear up for spring and will certainly give us some momentum going into the erg-room, pool and weight-room."

Saint Joseph's freshmen 8 "A" consisted of coxswain Andi Hartfield, Lauren Rozsits, Chrisinta DiSanto, Laura Thornton, Steph DAneglo, Emma Harmon, Corey Cella, Colleen Greway and Gabby Hazzouri.

The Hawks' freshmen 8 "B" consisted of coxswain Dominique Russo, Ashley Glidden, Jayme Collela, Christina Regan, Tai Haluszka, Hadley Smink, Nikki Boggs, Heather Stenger and Jaclene Dambra.
 

 

The women's freshmen 8 "C" consisted of coxswain Brooke Amster, Brooke Flannery, Maria Gaudio, Ashley Travis, Ann Marie Daly, Jenn Dillon, Bri Ayoub, Christia Schmidt and Allison Morrison.

The Hawks are back in action on March 10th versus Delaware and Lehigh.
