PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing pulled out three wins at the annual Kelly Cup, which is the city championship, on the Schuylkill River.

The Hawks scored wins in the Second Varsity 8, Varsity 4 and the Freshman 8, beating Drexel in both Eights. The Varsity 4 bested Temple to earn the victory.

SJU's Varsity 8 and Freshman 4 both finished second place in very close races, with Drexel taking the Varsity 8.

"We were in a position to win every race with 30 strokes to go and we came out on top in most of them," said SJU coach Gerry Quinalan. "With Dad Vail in two weeks we will work on our closing speed. But we feel very confident as far as the Dad Vail is concerned."

The Hawks are in action next at the Dad Vail Regatta on May 7-8.
