Women's Rowing Wins Two Eights at the Jesuit Invitational

PENNSUAKEN, N.J. - The Saint Joseph's Women's Rowing's Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight remain undefeated in 2009 after wins in the Jesuit Invitational. The Hawks faced off against Georgetown, Boston College, Fordham, Fairfield and Loyola and emerged victorious in the V8 and 2nd V8 for the second straight year.

The Hawks won the V8 by six seats over Boston College and more than 18 seconds over Georgetown to claim their second Jesuit Invitational crown in two years. The crew was comprised of Clare Burns (cox), Brianne Kammerman, Colleen Greway, Christina DiSanto, Debbie Bateman, Danielle Brady, Colleen Smith, Lauren Rozsits and Lauren Sysol.

The Second Varsity 8 won by open water over second place for its victory, with a crew of Andi Hartfield (cox), Tina Regan, Katie Herdmann, Ashley Wollman, Angela Acuna, Samm Wilson, Ali Gallagher, Liz Golden and Kate MacTurk. Both the V8 and 2V8 led right from the start, taking control of their races and finishing strong. The Freshman Eight finished a strong second to Georgetown and the Varsity Four finished an impressive fourth place.

 

 

The Hawks have a doubleheader on the slate for next weekend with the Murphy Cup on Saturday and a tri-meet with UConn and Dayton on Sunday.
