WOMEN'S LACROSSE FINISHES SEASON WITH 16-7 LOSS AT RICHMOND

RICHMOND, VA (5/2/04) -- Sophomore Kerry O'Connell scored three goals and senior Kristen Teklinsky and sophomore Lindsay Brown each added two but it was all the offense that SJU could muster in a 16-7 loss at Richmond (7-9, 3-4 A-10) on Sunday. The Hawks finish the season with an 8-6 record (2-5 Atlantic 10), tying the program record for wins in a season.

The Spiders opened up a 6-2 halftime lead and quickly extended the advantage to 12-2 after seven minutes of play in the second half, chasing Hawk goalkeeper Courtney Huff (three saves). Freshman Sarah Magain made five stops in relief. Polly Purcell had four goals and six assists for UR.

The 8-6 record is the same mark the 1996 team recorded.
