WOMEN'S LACROSSE STIFLED AT COLUMBIA, 11-4
NEW YORK, NY (3/21/04) -- Saint Joseph's was held scoreless for the first 44 minutes and dropped an 11-4 decision at Columbia on Sunday. Junior Shannon Scott scored two goals to pace SJU (1-1).
Columbia (5-1) jumped on the board first and scored the game's first eight goals before the Hawks could find the back of the net. Scott erased the zero with her goal in the 45th minute and senior Kristin Teklinsky scored less than a minute later to bring SJU within 9-2.
From that point on, the two teams traded goals as Scott and senior Amie Schmoltze found the back of the net for the Hawks. Junior Courtney Huff made 10 stops in the net for SJU.
Carrie Anderer scored a hat-trick to pace the Lions, who are off to their best start in program history.
Saint Joseph's returns to action on Friday when it visits city rival Drexel at 3:30 p.m.
