DREXEL HOLD OFF HAWKS FOR 9-7 WIN

PHILADELPHIA (3/28/02) - Katrina Rand had three goals and a pair of assists as Drexel defeated Saint Joseph's at Drexel Field, 9-7. Rand scored all three of her goals in the first 14 minutes as the Dragons raced out to a 4-0 lead. They never trailed in the contest. Junior Kelly Butler led the Hawks (1-4) with three goals. Brett Dymarczyk found the net twice in the losing cause. Saint Joseph's outshot the Dragons, 25-16, but Drexel keeper Shirley Sarker made 18 saves. Senior Lauren Bradley made four saves in the cage for the Hawks. Junior Jaime Connahan and sophomore Laurie Bean each added a pair of goals for the Dragons, who improved to 2-3 overall. Bean scored what proved to be the game-winner with 11:30 to play in the game to give Drexel an 8-5 lead. The Hawks next host La Salle on April 3 at 4:00 p.m.
