Hawks Fall at #1 Duke, 24-2

DURHAM, NC - The top-ranked Duke Blue Devils were too much for the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team Sunday afternoon, as No. 1 Duke downed the Hawks 24-2.

The Blue Devils were stellar on offense and defense in the first half as they tallied 15 straight goals to take a 15-0 edge into the half, while allowing Saint Joseph's only two shots on net.

Duke scored the first two tallies of the second half before Saint Joseph's sophomore Christina Colangelo scored the first goal for the Hawks at the 26:40 mark off a pass from freshman Karen Wiley.

From there, the Blue Devils would outscore the Hawks 7-1 over the remaining time, with the Hawks' sophomore Alison Bean recording the second SJU goal.

For the game, Duke out shot the Hawks 35-4, with Saint Joseph's junior Sarah Magan making three saves in the loss.

Bean, Colangelo and Wiley each recorded a point for the Hawks, while 13 Blue Devils recorded at least one point.

With the loss, the Hawks fall to 4-9 on the season, while Duke improves to 14-1.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Tuesday at home versus Villanova.
