Saint Joseph's Women's Lacrosse Tops Drexel, 9-8, in Overtime

PHILADELPHIA - Scoring three straigh goals to end regulation, the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team topped Drexel, 9-8, in overtime behind Jenna Martino's game winner. Trailing 8-5 with under 15 minutes to go, the Hawks (5-4) rallied to score three straigh goals in regulation to tie the game and force overtime. Christina Colangelo cut it to a two goal game with 11:32 to go, while teammate Jessica Westlake brought SJU within one, 8-7, at the 10:06 mark. Having fought back to a one goal deficit, Saint Joseph's tied the game at 3:27 as Courtney McManama took a pass from Abby Renninger and beat Drexel's Lauren LaBella. In the extra frame, Jenna Martino broke the tie with 52 seconds remaining to give SJU the victory. In a back-and-forth first half, Drexel held a 5-4 lead at halftime, but SJU tied it in the beginning of the second on a McManama goal. From there, the Dragons scored three straight, before the Hawks' rally. Saint Joseph's returns to action Sunday when the Hawks host St. Bonaventure at noon.
