Piscataway, N.J. - Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell to Rutgers, 17-5, on Wednesday night at RU Turf Field. Five Hawks each scored a goal while Grace Dinn added a goal and an assist on the night. Rutgers controlled the first half as they had an 8-2 advantage in draw controls and out-shot SJU, 19-5. After a Rutgers goal seven minutes into the game, Jenna Martino scored a goal at the 19:01 mark. The Scarlet Knights then scored seven straight goals for an 8-1 lead at halftime. Saint Joseph's Jen Peters put the first goal on the board three minutes into the second half and RU would answer back at the 25:07 mark. Hawks' Julie Mineweaser rallied back with a goal one minute later before the Scarlet Knights went on a four-goal scoring streak to take a 10-point lead. Alana Glanell and Dinns goals, were the last of the Hawks in the second half as the Scarlet Knights added four more for a 17-6 final. Freshman Meghan Mitchell made her debut in net for the Hawks with seven saves on the night. Saint Joseph's hosts Monmouth on Sunday at noon on Finnesey Field.
