Field Hockey Places Two on All-Region Teams

PHILADELPHIA - For the first time since 1995, the Saint Joseph's field hockey team had two players named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region Teams. Senior Katelyn O'Brien was named to the All-Region first team, while junior Nicole Antonini was selected to the second team for the second consecutive season.

O'Brien, a native of Havertown, Pa. (Archbishop Carroll), closed out her Hawk career in impressive fashion. Among the area's premier scorers, she tied for the team lead with 13 goals (3 game-winners) and placed second on the squad with 29 points. She was selected to the All-Atlantic 10 first team for the second straight year and was also chosen to compete in teh NFHCA North-South Senior All-Star Game. She ranks fifth in program history with 28 goals and 66 points. She holds the SJU single game record four goals with four against Robert Morris in 2004.

Antonini was named to the All-Region second team for the second straight year, becoming just the third player in school history to be recognized more than once. A native of Collegeville, Pa. (Methacton), she tied O'Brien for the team lead with 13 goals and topped the squad with 30 points. The first team All-Atlantic 10 pick ranks second in career points (96) at SJU and stands third all-time in assists (22) and goals (37).

The Hawks finished the season 10-10 overall and reached the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the fifth straight season, falling to eventual league champion Richmond in the semifinals.
